Interceptor Tank Design |

The dimensions of interceptor tanks are calculated according to Stokes's law for settling tanks. Length, width and minimum liquid depth are proportioned so that the 0.02 mm particle will settle with the maximum discharge rate corresponding to the unit load calculated for the sewer design. This needs iterative calculations because the unit load depends on the surface area of the tank.
