There’s something musical happening in the small North Yorkshire town of Malton and the ‘Stopouts’ are at the centre of it. A recording studio has been built, a local comedian has songs he wants to record, a talented singer has been found and a band of dedicated locals have been assembled to make it all work. With any luck, you’ll be hearing a lot more about the ‘Malton’ scene in the coming months……
This gig was put on as a fundraiser for the Children’s Liver Disease Foundation. One of the bands daughters has Auto-immune liver disease and the event raised over £2,000 for the charity that has helped them so much. You can donate too if you’d like to…
There were 3 sets with over 50 songs spread through the night. First up was Steve Gribbin who left his stand-up routine behind and gave us some of his own songs, aided and abetted by the stopouts. Then ‘Fliss’ (the star of the evening) and the rest did 2 sets of covers that filled the dance floor. Everything from ‘There she goes’, ‘I feel love’ and ‘Atomic’ to ‘Perfect 10’ and ‘River deep mountain high’ – Fliss can hit every note of every song with ease – surely a star in the making.
